Hi {{ subscriber.first_name }}, Disruption never arrives gradually. Sometimes it detonates overnight. In my recent conversation with Dan Rosensweig, CEO of Chegg and former CEO of Yahoo, he described what it feels like to publicly admit that AI will impact your business, and then watch 48% of your company’s value disappear within seconds. I lost 48% of the company’s value and my net worth in about five seconds. Here’s what stood out most to me. Dan didn’t hide. That level of transparency is not comfortable. But it is necessary if reinvention is the goal. He also shared a line that captures modern leadership better than any framework: In tech, sometimes you’re the windshield and sometimes you’re the bug. That sentence carries weight. Because when you’ve always led from strength - from stability, from certainty - and suddenly you’re leading from vulnerability, the internal work becomes as important as the strategic work. Dan outlined a personal discipline that I believe every CEO should reflect on:
Only then do you choose: Exit. As his mentor Bill Campbell once told him, when things go wrong you have two choices: get out - or shut up and fix it. This episode is not just about AI. It’s about posture under pressure. It’s about authenticity. It’s about leading when the public markets are unforgiving and the personal toll is real. At one point, Dan said something that many CEOs feel but rarely say: It feels like an anvil is sitting on your head. If you’re navigating disruption, valuation pressure, or strategic reinvention right now - this conversation will resonate deeply. 🎧 Watch on YouTube The episode resolves the frameworks. And perhaps the most important reflection: If your model were disrupted tomorrow, would your identity as a leader hold?
