We should be more mindful of the challenges we take.
Some challenges are not ideal for us but we tend to take them anyway as we crave for the outcome.
Here’s the thing.
If the challenge is too big for our current skill set, after the initial energy and dopamine hit, we’ll lose motivation quite quickly once we realize that it will take much more time and effort to win.
This will lead us to frustration and burnout.
On the other hand, if the challenge is too easy for our current skill set, we’ll win easily but unlikely we’ll get anywhere different than where we currently are.
And we’ll lose interest and motivation as well.
As neuroscientists suggest, the sweet spot is in a challenge that is just above our current skill set. And once we achieve it, we go to the next one. By taking the right challenge, we:
